Lady of the Night

The Lady of the Night (Selenicereus grandiflorus) is a beautiful, mysterious and unusual type of cactus. First of all, because of the beautiful flowers with a captivating scent. Once fully bloomed, the flowers last for only one night. Hence the name – Lady of the Night. With the approach of evening, the flower of the Lady of the Night slowly opens its bright petals towards the moon, and when the dawn begins to brighten the sky, when the first rays of the sun are already visible, the flowers then close up, drop and wilt. Under the right conditions, the plant blooms several times a season. But only through one night.

And although on our lands she is known primarily for her appearance and her unusual flowering habits, the Lady of the Night also has considerable health properties. It is used and processed in countless ways by the Indigenous peoples of the jungle (and not only). It cleans the blood and helps stabilize cholesterol. It increases blood circulation in the brain, and thus enhances the functioning of neurotransmitters (i.e. better thinking). It helps with heart diseases caused by the abuse of coffee, tobacco, tea and alcoholic beverages, as well as it heals headaches, rheumatic pains, respiratory problems, skin rashes, and diabetes.

The Lady of the Night shares its magical and health properties with Rapé Cactus

MURICI

Murici (Byrsonima crassifolia) is a herb with extremely interesting and diverse healing properties. I will list some of them to emphasize the power of Murici, and also because it is just AWESOME. Firstly it has very tasy an popular fruits. The bark of the Murici tree is anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and laxative; it is used to treat dysentery, cough, as well as snake bites (as an antidote); it helps menstruation and vaginal problems. Externally, the bark is used as a treatment for wounds, skin infections, ulcers, etc. A leaf infusion helps in the case of low blood pressure. The bark and leaves are also used as a cleaning agent (e.g. washing dishes).

Finally, I would like to mention one last thing about Murici, which perfectly illustrates what it doeas for rapé. This tree is planted to restore barren or burnt soil. Murici is able to awaken life in where it has not been before, to revive some space that seemed dead and empty.

And this is exactly how this tree in Rapé Murici works – heals the body, mind and spirit, introducing ‘life’ to stagnant, forgotten places, places with tension, introducing a healing flow of heat there.

PROPERTIES OF RAPÉ CACTUS

Rapé Cactus is so rich in various properties that you can work with it on many different levels.

Thanks to Murici this rapé is extremely grounding; introducing warmth and relaxation to the lower abdomen. It brings back to the ground, to earth, ‘fertilizes’ our base chakra, just as the leaves of the Muricii tree fertilize the soil. It harmonizes the base chakra and stimulates its energy flow.

The Lady of the Night, like all flowers, when eaten, helps us to “flourish”. It works well with the crown chakra (feeling of unity with the Universe, feeling of unlimited potential, using inner wisdom, finding your way of life and meaning in it, spiritual connection with the energy of the Universe) supporting the development of the spiritual sphere, intuition, understanding things.

Rapé Cactus is one of the three that work with the crown chakra. However, unlike Rapé Samauma or Tsunu, which stimulate our unity with the universe, Rapé Cactus helps us find our inner unity. It combines the spiritual with the mundane. It cleans and strengthens the energy connection of the whole body and the path of energy that passes through all chakras, clearing it of blockages, stuck places and distractions. It helps to harmonize and integrate what is outside with what is inside of you.

Rapé Cactus also teaches us to find peace when dealing with fleeting things. When you have to say goodbye to something, leave something behind. And at the same time it will guide you to appreciate what was. It helps to find inner peace in this process of saying goodbye.
In addition, if you need help with your recovery – be it in the body, mind, or spirit (or heart), you can turn to Rapé Cactus for help.

I recommend it for meditation, of course. And also, if you feel internally disrupted, have no sense of inner unity, or are unable to make some important decision.

The Indigenous Katukina tribes say that Rapé Cactus is best used after dark – this is when, like the Lady of the Night, she gains her greatest potential.

I wish you nice healing!

KATUGINA TRIBE

The Katugina tribe, just like all the others, suffered a lot in the development of the rubber industry. However, today they are safe, their traditions are cultivated and the number is about 1600 people – which, if you read about other tribes, is exceptionally large.
Katugina is one of the few tribes who have managed to keep their language so intact. Most of the tribes of the Pano linguistic group (except Kaxinawa Tribe) have lost their original language or it is reconstructed from scratch. Tradition is very important to this tribe and language is one of its elements.
Katugina tribe inhabit the area along the Gregorio River. They share this territory with the Yawanawa tribe. The members of the two tribes are largely mixed through marriage arrangements. The Katukina were one of the first to travel outside the state of Acre with their medicines, especially the spread of Kambo was pioneered by them and they can be considered masters of the medicine.
They have extensive knowledge of plants and the spirit of the world. Their rapé is strong and deep, hiding the wild and powerful spirit of the jungle within.
