The bark of the Murici tree is tannin-rich, anti-inflammatory, astringent, emmenagogic, antipyretic and laxative; it is used for gastrointestinal disorders, including indigestion, diarrhea and dysentery; it is used to treat pulmonary ailments (such as cough), as well as snake bites (as an antidote); it helps with feminine problems – menstruation and vaginal discharge. Externally, the bark is used as a treatment for wounds, skin infections, ulcers, etc. As a mouth rinse, it helps with gum problems. A leaf infusion helps in the case of low blood pressure.
