This beautiful UMAYO pipe is made from a piece of CHONTA WOOD (also known as “chonta durmi” or “black palm”). This dense, dark wood comes from the spines of certain palms. Indigenous inhabitants of the Amazon have been using chonta wood for various ceremonial and more practical purposes for centuries.

Considering its dense nature and the fact that it can be used to make weapons such as arrows, spears, and clubs, chonta wood is a symbol of strength and durability.
